Building on the Bow

Building on the Bow is a fine art photographic book project completed in collaboration with BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), documenting the architectural language of Calgary’s commercial core at a moment of accelerated urban transition. Conceived in 2011, the project involved photographing 74 commercial facades across downtown Calgary during the fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012.
The resulting book, Building on the Bow, was printed and launched in early summer 2012 as both a documentary record and a curated architectural study. The project positions Calgary’s commercial architecture not as static infrastructure, but as an evolving civic archive, shaped by economic cycles, design intent, and the quiet persistence of material form over time.
