Douglas Fir, Sitka Spruce and Cedar are predominant along the forest trails. In this image I was attracted to the single, central trunk framed by the two foreground trees. I cropped tight deliberately to emphasize the scale of the foreground trees by cutting off their outside edges. Shot on a tripod at f22 to keep the foreground to background equally sharp which draws the viewer into the image. Depth of field emphasizes the detail throughout the image and is a critical component to a strong photograph; especially with black and white photography.
